Marble tile floor with dark stains from cleaning solution

Q. My cleaning ladies have splashed water from their buckets on my marble tile floors in my bathroom & dining room. I have large darkened Splash mark/stains. How or can I get rid of it? Thanks

A. There is a possibility that the marble stones absorbed the cleaning solution and the dark spots you are seeing is simply moisture that will dry out and the stains will vanish. On the other hand, there may be some surfactant in the cleaning solution that may have left a real stain. If this is the case, you will have to make a poultice to draw the stains out. I would recommend that you download and read our Stone Care Guide which will give instructions for creating a poultice as well as good all-around stone care information. If you prefer, you can contact a stone maintenance professional in your area to take the stone out. (You can find qualified contractors here: www.stoneandtilepros.com/findapro.php)

Let your cleaning ladies know they have to use only stone safe cleaning products. For cleaning your floors, I would recommend using MB Stonecare MB-1 Neutral Cleaner for floors. You can find it at http://www.mbstonecare.com.
