Q. My husband wiped up some toilet water from our honed marble bathroom floor (the cleaning brush dripped on the floor)...and we used some Lysol toilet bowl cleaner to disinfect the area. Now we can see wipe marks on the floor where we used the cleaner. The Lysol was on the floor no more than 20 seconds...but we can still see the marks. A. Bathroom cleaners can be very damaging to marble. The acid in them, when coming in contact with the marble, will etch the surface of the stone. You may be able to fix the problem yourself. If the damage is not too severe (you can't feel the roughness with your fingertips) or too large of an area, you can polish out the etched areas with some MB-11 Marble Polishing Powder which you can find at www.mbstonecare.com.
