granite countertop damage

Q.I have a brand new granite countertop that was installed only 2 months ago. I had a ceramic vase with flowers in it sitting on the countertop. The water leaked from the vase. When I cleaned it up, I noticed a number of raised white areas on the granite. Is there a chemical in the vase that may have damaged the countertop? How do I go about removing the damage?
A.Hi Kelly We will need more info to help you with your question. What granite do you have.I have a feeling it could be some minerals from the water that crystalized on the surface of your countertop.Try very gently with a new single edged razor blade to remove the white spots.Keep the razor blade at a 45 degree angle and dont force it too hard.Try one spot and see what happens. It it comes up
easy enough do the rest then clean the area off with a ph neutral cleaner.Hey let us know if this works will ya.
