Carrara marble kitchen countertop care

Q.Have inherited a couple of puddle-like, water-like stains on our carrara marble kitchen countertop. We were fully aware of the "character" that would be part of this choice however are wondering what would be the best care for this surface and if there was anything that would help these "spots". We love it "spots" and all but want to do what we can to preserve the surface. I will scour your site for info. I see ther is a heading below about spots on marble. If you have any suggestions product-wise please let us know. Also do you have a distributor in the Spokane, Washington area? Thank you
A.Hi Barbara-Is your carrara polished or honed?I am guessing it is honed. The rule on stains is if the stain is darker than the stone then in fact it is a true stain. You need to determine next what type of stain it is.I would guess it could be an oil stain and should be treated with a poultice of baby powder and acetone.See our article on stain removal at www.mbstone.com which explains how to make and use poulticing to remove many types of stains.
Once the stains are removed a high quality impregnating sealer should be considered.Check out our mb-4 thats a sure fire way to protect your countertop.Oh and dont forget a bottle of mb-5 our daily use stone cleaner.
At the moment we dont have any distributors in spokane.
Hey-Tell your favorite stone shop to give us a call.
