Q.I just had some stone tile installed in my kitchen for a backsplash and two of the tiles I had applied impregnator on to test the color, not realizing, the installer used the tested ones in his install. He used a different sealer on all of the tiles and these 2 are a different much lighter color. Is there any way to remove the sealer on those 2 tiles and use this other type to darken them or is there any way to just darken them?

A. Hello- Impregnating sealers should have no effect on color unless they are color enhancing sealers. You may be able to use a solvent such as acetone or denatured alcohol to breakdown the sealer on the lighter colored stone.

You would have to mask off the other tiles as it will be diffucult to work around them. Then you can try and use the other sealer which sounds like a color enhancer to darken the other two.

It may however be best to have your contracter just replace the two tiles and use the other sealer on them.
