granite kitchen benchtops

Q.My partner and I had a new kitchen installed 6-12 months ago that included a granite benchtop called "blue pearl". 2 distinct cracks have emerged in front of the sink (can be felt under the front edge) and another appears to be starting (and maybe even a 4th) that I'm concerned may travel through the main breakfast bar. I have heard that granite can flex and crack from lack of support or if weight has been put on the area. Please advise us on the facts of what can cause these cracks so we can be reasonable with the supplier. We are very disapointed as we struggled to afford something that we considered would be worth paying for that would last. Thanks and really do appreciate your advice. Shaz
A.Hello Shaz-your right to be disapointed as the installer
knowing this narrow area needs to be rodded and or supported. If its cracking you have an issue that needs to be addressed. It may be able to be repaired to the point you wouldnt know this ever happened. Speak to your installer and see what they tell you. If however you get nowhere you can always call in a bona fide fabricator to make the repairs or a bona fide stone restoration pro.
