zodiaq countertops

Q.i spilled laundry detergent (non bleach) on my brand new zodiaq black galaxy countertops. i wiped it immediately with water and finished with non-ammonia spray. it left a permanent cloudy haze with streaks from the water marks. i tried several cleaners, such as Simple Green, Countertop Magic and scotch brite, but no improvement. I thought Zodiaq is stain resistant. How can a laundry detergent cause such damage. Dupont does not cover staining in their warranty. Please help!
A.Hi Jenna- Sorry for the delayed response.
We were out working.
Engineered stone has some issues for sure.
The damage sounds like an etch from the alkaline in the detergent. Dark engineered stone is even harder to work with then lighter colors.
You can try some #1 steel wool and acetone. Place a little acetone on the dull mark and rub dry with the steel wool.
Test this method on a spare piece or hidden area to get the feel of the technique and to see the reaction of the surface.
If this doesnt work call a bona fide stone refinisher.
