Travertine by pool

Q. Hi, I have just had an unfilled, tumbled walnut travertine installed around my salt water pool. Maurizio recommended it to me just before he passed away. RIP Maurizio. I know he didn't recommend sealing the stone but I am disappointed in the colour (too light) and am wondering if there is anything I can do to bring out the colour and without harming the stone. It looks great wet! Thanks, Rhyl Lewis, Australia.

A.Hello Rhyl. I know Maurizio would have said leave it alone. Most color enhancers which will give it the wet look are also sealers. I know that there are products on the market designed for exterior uses. I am not familiar with them but you can research them on the web.

Be cautious that whatever you find doesn't turn your pool surround into a ice skating rink by causing a slip problem. Do your homework.

And thanks for the kind words we all miss Maurizio.
