Butting marble floor to oak floor

I just refinished my oak floor in the living and dining room and want to now install marble flooring in the entryway that butts up against the oak flooring. Question do I need some type of transition piece between the floors? I think I prefer to have perfect cuts and lay the Marble floor as close as possible to the oak floor. What are your thoughts on this. Thanks, LarryJC

Dear Larry:

While I can appreciate your personal preferences, as a mechanic I must say that installations like that are at best questionable. I've seen it done many times, but in most instances, the grout connecting the two floors always came off. If it were my floor I would consider a transition, either made out of wood or marble.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,
