Marble, granite, and travetine

I have marble bathroom countertops and I have several problems: They have water spots. Also, my husband's countertop has a stain completely around the sink next to the caulk they used to lay the sink on. Can this stain be removed? My sink was placed on the same grout but does NOT have the stain, however, our other bathroom does. It seems that when the water is NOT wiped off of it around the edeges it tends to leach into the grout and thus have this effect. I also have granite countertops. What is the best way to keep them new looking. They are 3 yres old. The are not "polished" but shined by sand paper. ( I only know this as a piece is joined together and I watched how they shined the joint. Lastly, we have traverine for shelving in the shower and our glass lays on one 8" slab. The outside which does not get water is very shiny, the inside is dull from soap and cleaners. Is there a remedy to fix this to it's normal shine and how do I keep the window sill from being this way...it does get splattered on. Your help would be very much appreciated.

Dear Suzie:

I know exactly what your problems are and I have the answers for you. I also know that the people who sold and installed your stones in your home are the sole cause of your problems: they never gave you any intelligence about the maintenance requirements of what they sold to you. Considering the kind of money they made out of you, I think it's only fair that you give them a chance to rectify the situation and explain to you what the story is and what you should do about it. In the off chance that they won't even know what they're looking at, and s hould you need additional assistance, you're welcome to use our “One-on-One” consultation service that's available for a small fee by logging on at: http://www.mbstone.com/training/training_&_consultation.htm.   Bear in mind that by purchasing that service you will be supporting the cause of this site, because not a single penny of the consultation fee will end up in my pocket. Every single penny will be reinvested for the promotion of the site, which represents your only possible tool to have your voice heard within the stone industry.

I hope you can appreciate that.

May I ask you also to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,
