should I use slate for a shower stall

Iam thinking about using slate tiles 12x12 for a shower stall and was wondering if this is a good choise over granite. I have some 33x28x3/4 granit slabs but have never worked with this and Iam thinmking about selling them and using a different material that is a littel liter and easer to cut and handel. Thanks for any help. John

Dear John:

By saying slate you're saying very little – if anything at all. There are many different (and I do mean different) kinds of slate that span from dense and (almost) acceptable rocks, to slate that will actually fall apart under running water, and everything in between.

So which slate do you have in mind?
If you ask me slate (in general) only belong on roof (the right one), on a pool table, on a chalk board or on a wall (NOT inside a shower, though!).
After that, you make yolur own decision.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,
