travertine floor

My mother just had travertine floor tiles (Polished) installed. She recently had the floors sealed and because it had the dull look, decided to put car wax to give it an extra shine. That idea failed! (not sure what she was thinking!). In any case, did she just ruin her floors or is there a solution to give her floor the natural shine look. Thanks for your advice, Myra

Dear Myra :

Oh, what a mess!! L L L

She had polished travertine tiles installed, right?

Now, regardless of the total uselessness of the application of a sealer for stone to polished travertine, what kind of a sealer had it applied to the floor that made it turn dull??... Quite frankly, I can't think of a single one!

And then have car wax, of all things, applied to it??...

Oh my my…!!!

Not having any knowledge of the mysterious sealer that turned the polished tiles dull (to the best of my knowledge, there's no such a product on the market), it's hard for me to suggest you a proper course of action. Therefore, if you want me to help you, you have to find out for me what kind of sealer (type, brand and make and possibly an internet link to it) was applied to your mother's floor.

Get back to me with that information and I will see to find a solution.

Relax: your mother floor is not beyond repair. The only thing that we have to determine is how much it will cost her to have it fixed!!... J
