When setting our bathroom sink, the plummer left silicone residue on the granite countertop. I have scraped most of it off, but a considerable amount remains in the pores of the granite. How can I remove the remainder? Thank You

It's not going to be easy, I can tell you that! L  

A potent paint stripper based on Methylene Chloride (do follow all precautionary directions printed on the can) and a natural fiber laundry brush could remove it. (If you use a plastic bristled brush it will melt right away.)

If for any chance your stone is a granite that needs to be sealed, the Methylene Chloride will remove the impregnator, too; therefore you will have to apply some more to it. That is not biggie; but one serious concern could be whether or not your slab had been resined by the factory. If that's the case, the Methylene Chloride would make irreparable damage to the resin (epoxy).

Bottom line, don't tackle that problem yourself. Get professional help even by your fabricator, or a reputable stone restoration contractor.
