Granite Sealer

I have just had Giallo Sabbio countertops installed in my kitchen and bathroom vanity. In your advice you mentioned that some granites are very hard and do not need to be sealed. Is Giallo Sabbio one of those hard stones that does not need to be sealed? If it does need to be sealed do you have any recommendations on type of sealer? I want to keep the natural look of the stone and do not wish to add color enhancers. Thank you.

It is not the hardnss that makes a granite or "granite" sealable or not: it is rathe its ineherent density.
That said, your particular stone is typicall on the absorbent side, but it is also one of the most candites to the resining process (implemented by the factory), which effectively seal the stone permanently.
So, there's only one way to find out by doing this:
Spill some water in a couple of spots of your stone, let it dwell for 5 minutes or so, wipe it dry and observe if the areas under which the water has been sitting have become (temporarily) any darker than the rest. If so, then you will apply a good-quality impregnating sealer. If not, don't bother.

Now remember, it's never too early to think about the proper maintenance of your stone. The issue of what you'll be doing day in and day out to your stone is far more important than the sealing and it's all too often neglected. As you can tell by reading many of this site's postings, you're not likely to get good information about it from your dealer or installer. Don't become another statistic!
