Volga Blue Granite - Print View

Hi Maurizio, I'm hoping you can help me. We just had Volga Blue Granite installed in our Kitchen. Is there anything that we should be aware of as far as the care of this stone? Our fabricator does not seem to know much about it. I have complained to him about water marks on the surface of the stone ... they are NOT "wet" marks but more like outlines of where the water was. He came over the weekend to look at them and left us with a "wax" which seems to remove the marks from the surface but I can still see them ... we have a watersoftener and we use potassium chloride ... will this affect it? It did not sound like he sealed the stone, but I can find that out if you need me to. We ABOSOLUTELY LOVE the stone and I want to be sure to properly maintain it. Thanks for your help! Dear Michele:

Volga Blue should be as worry-free and bullet-proof a stone as they come. What you're reporting is mighty unusual with that stone, especially after you said that your fabricator probably did not seal it.

Let's try to understand what's going on here.

First you specifically ask your fabricator if he really did not apply any sealer to your countertop.

Second you spill a few drops of lemon juice wherever you wish, let if dwell for a few minutes, and then whipe it dry. See if under where the drops were sitting there's like a "ghost water stain" and then report back to me.
