7 year old white marble shower walls

What I originally thought was etched turns out to be little rings of mineral deposits that have tended to collect scum and mildew...so if I take a razor blade and scrape lightly.. it reveals the original polished clean and smooth 12x12 tiles. How does one disolve and remove this stuff safely from an approx. 100 sq ft area? Is honing the only practical way?

Dear JW:
Etching are marks of corrosion create by the pH activity of various chemical coming in contact and reacting with the minerals on the surface of the stone. There's nothing to scrape off: some of the stone came off already!...
Yes, honing is your only option. But do you have any idea of what it entails?...

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm? J

Ciao and good luck,
