Two months ago, I purchased a new condo with new uba tuba countertops in the kitchen and baths. This morning I noticed quite a few very small pits in both bathrooms. Is this normal? Will I get more pits? Will the pits get bigger? Is there something I can do to make them less noticable? Thanks, Karen

Are you positive that they were not already there since the beginning and that you just did not notice them?... It happens, you know… J

If you're positive that they developed afterwards, the answer to your question on whether or not such phenomenon is normal is, no. It is not normal at all. Actually, it's unheard of. What it is normal is the fact that Ubatuba, like the vast majority of all mercantile granites, has little natural pits throughout its texture. Hence my opening question.

However, there is a remote possibility that something happened to your stone: what did you use to clean it?

Regardless of that, if the current status bothers you, only a professional stone restoration contractor could improve the situation with CA glue filling. (Don't ask: it's contractors' lingo!...) The real problem is to find one proficient enough to pull a difficult job like that off.
