Maurizio We have a fairly large reconstituted marble hearth that has a number of small dull circle marks caused by water. I don't think the damage is serious enough to warrant repolishing. Is there anything I can do in terms of DIY? I would appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Let's start by saying that there are only two chances that water can damage marble: no way and no how!
What you have are etch marks (marks of corrosion) that are the consequence of some acidic substance getting in contact with the stone surface (drinks, maybe; or the wrong cleaning product; and so on through a long list of possibilities.)
That said, I really don't know if you could do it yourself. It depends on the severity of the damage. My suggstion is for you would by to try a good-quality Marble Repair Kit, but I'm a little bit at loss, here... Pardon my ignorance, but I have no idea what "reconstituted marble" is... :-(
I know that the repair kit would work on natural marble (if the etching is not too severe), but on this "other" marble I really don't know.
