Bluestone patio

Our bluestone patio was just redone using existing stones with a new cement base. Mortar was used between the stones. I am trying to avoid the problem of water deteriorating the mortar and getting underneath as happened before. Should the mortar be sealed; and if so, with what product? I live in the Northeast and freeze/thaw cycles are a problem!

Dear Monette:
If you know that if would be aproblem - and it will - why on earth did you use that kind of material to grout your stones?... I mean, you're not really thinking that you coul solve the problem by applying a sealer to that mortar, do you?
You should have used flexible groting material for exteriors instead.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm? J

Ciao and good luck,
