Stone pool deck

Dear Maurizio, Sei Italiano? I live in Malta,in the meditteranean very close to Sicily and recently constructed an overflow pool with surrounding coping and floor tiles for the deck made from natural stone from Egypt. I have a big problem as mant tiles are remaining wet even after days of sunshine and underneath mortar is dry. I understand that stone is very porous but Greek supplier did not advise any waterproof treatment. Any help? Kevin Farrugia

Dear Kevin:
Yes, sono Italiano: I was 36 when I moved from Parma, Italy to the uSA. :-)

" Greek supplier did not advise any waterproof treatment."

Finally a merchant that's not brain-washed into sealing every stone in sight and knows that no stone installed outdoors should ever be sealed!!

Now, what seems to be the problem? Just because the stone remains wet?... So?...
Why did you choose such a porous stone for that project?... And are you sure that the mortar underneath the stone tiles is dry instead?...
It sounds to me like you created a problem by selecting the wrong stone for the project, and now you're desperately seeking a solution in a bottle for a problem that, maybe, by someone else's standards is not even a problem... Hmmm... :-)
Ciao and good luck,
Maurizio Bertoli
