Caring for slate floor

I have a dark green honed slate entry way (large tiles). What is the proper sealant, cleaning etc. for this flooring?

Dear Joy:
Are you sure that's hone-finished slate, opposed to its much more popular natural-cleft counterpart?
At any rate, typically dark green slate doesn't take any impregnator (a.k.a. sealer) in; so I wouldn't worry about that.
What I would worry about are the maintenance issues inherent to all slates, such as easy scratching and, in many case, chemical etching, too.
Your best bet is to treat your floor with a good-quality stone color enhancer like MB-6 and then maintain it with MB-1, using MB-6 again occasionally when the need arises. Just keep be warned that MB-6 will give you permanently the same depth of color as when the slate is wet (but with no shine).

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm? J

Ciao and good luck,
