outdoor canadian granite patio

Help! I have a beautiful patio made of canadian granite that is constantly growing weeds between the rocks - I have sand dust in grout lines and the weeds are seeding from the top. Can I somehow grout between the rocks and seal it to stop the weeds? if so, what do i use. Thanks! Jackie :) p.s. i am considering taking up beautiful rocks and using concrete just to lower the mantenance - stop me from doing this!!

Dear Jacqueline:

And what am I supposed to do to stop you from getting rid of your stone?!?!... Come over with a gun or something?!!... LOL

Replace the sand dust with a mix of 8:2 sand and Portland cement (8 parts of sand and 2 parts of cement). Using a push-broom make sure that no residue of that mix is sitting on the stop of the stone and then sprinkle the whole floor with a fine mist of water. Let it cure – done. That should do it (no sealing, please!!). If for any chance you will still have weeds growing, a good-quality weed-killer should take care of that permanently.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http:// www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm? J

Ciao and good luck,
