tumbled travertine

We used tumbled travertine on our kitchen backsplash and sealed it with an enhancing sealer. It came out much darker than we had intended. Alot darker than the samples at the store! Is there any way to lighten them back up?

Dear Tracy:

My first reaction is to answer, nope!

However, technically there's a possibility (and only a possibility, mind you), which would be to apply a paint-stripper based on Methylene Chloride in gel form.

Should you ever decide to try that, let me know that I will leave the country for a few days! If you get my drift…

Considering the potential high-toxicity of the product and the uncertainty of the result, it is just not worth doing it IMO.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm? J

Ciao and good luck,
