Marble Bathroom

Hi Maurizio, Thanks for your previous response. I have some follow-up questions regarding using Marble in the bathroom: 1. Is it ok to use Marble countertops for the bathroom vanity? 2. We've been shopping around for many crema marfil 12x12 tiles and I've seen it go as cheap as $4/sqft (polished). Obviously, I'm leaning towards the cheapest one, but I wasn't sure if there is such thing as low quality marble tile. I just assumed its all the same quality since it is natural stone. Please advise if there is such difference, if so, which one should I get that's cost effective? Thanks, Bernard

Dear Bernard:

I just assumed it's all the same quality since it is natural stone.

I don't follow your logic… How can you assume that being a product of nature it is going to be always the same grading??... I would assume exactly the opposite! Manmade plastic or the so-called engineered stone are always the same!

Are you telling me that there's no difference between a board of select-grade cabinet-quality lumber and the same type of wood used to make railroad ties?

You may find some unscrupulous merchant that will try to sell you a $5 stone for $10, but I promise you that you will never find a merchant that will try to sell you a $10 stone for $5!!

Unfortunately, unlike the lumber industry, the stone industry has no mandatory grading; hence consumers are pretty much on their own.

And that is one of the reasons why the world needs marblecleaning.org!

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
