If you have unfiltered hard water (maybe with iron mineral in it to boot), you're going to have problems in a shower stall no matter what you will be lining it with, this side of stain-less steel!
Travertine is among the best stones to be installed in a shower stall, but unfiltered well-water… I don't think so!
Once you solve that problem, the real factor that will make you happy is not the stone itself, but the way it's installed. If it is not installed properly, no stone will ever make you happy!
And the, of course, there's the matter of its proper care. W
hat you'll be doing and using day in and day out on your stone is – as it should be intuitive – extremely important and it's all too often neglected. As you can tell by reading many of this site's postings, you're not likely to get good information about routine care from your dealer or installer. Don't become another statistic!
