Black Galaxy Haze

My new blk galaxy tile countertops have a haze on them. You can use a razor blade and white film comes off. I do know that the installer put some kind of color enhancer polish on it after he installed it. I didn't like it because it left smears on the, so I tried to remove the majority of it with just a dry terry cloth towel. I would like to see if there is something that can be used to remove the haze? Joycee

Dear Joycee:

I don't know. I'm sure that there is something to remove whatever it is that they slapped on those tiles, but not knowing what it is exactly I have no idea what you should be using. Maybe a heavy-duty stone cleaner like MB-2, but it's just a guess thrown there. Your best bet is going back to the installer and demand that he takes care of his own mess. Norite (that is what BG is) can't take any sealer/color-enhancer or what-have-you in.

Now remember, it's never too early to think about the proper maintenance of your stone. The issue of what you'll be doing day in and day out to your stone is – as it should be intuitive – vastly more important than its sealing (if and when possible and/or advisable) and it's all too often neglected. As you can tell by reading many of this site's postings, you're not likely to get good information about routine care from your dealer or installer. Don't become another statistic!
