Hello Maurizio! A long while ago, we had an email exchange about travertine bathroom tile and slate counters. Unfortunately, since then my email has died and been resurrected, and I lost your advice on what products I should buy for my Brazilian gray slate countertops. I am very frustrated by all the rings and splotches on my counters (even plain water makes them!), so I'd like to get rid of as many of them as I can and then figure out how to prevent more from appearing. I'm going crazy trying to wipe up every little drip so it won't leave a mark. I'm an Italian cook! I can't be that neat! So, tell me what to buy (and what to expect from it) and I'll do it. thanks! -Laura

 

Dear Laura: (I feel like I'm writing to my wife! LOL)

A good-quality acid-resistant stone color enhancer like MB-6 is "your man"!

Unfortunately most slates are total maintenance nightmare by American standards... :-(

There's mo way that you can prevent all those "water spots" (acid etchings, that is), but the color-enhancer will hide them real well.
