Water and Granite floors

I had a water leak which stained my new granite floor from underneath. The contractor had installed a mudset base. Will this stain eventually evaporate through the surface or remain there?

It should eventually evaporate, but it may take months, depending on the density of the stone and whether or not an impregnating sealer was applied to it!
