sick dog on slate

Our dog was recently very ill, throwing up bile on our new slate floors. What can I use to safely remove stains and odor from this tile?

Dear Katie:

I must assume that your “stain” is liger than the rest of the stone, and therefore it is not a stain but an acid etching. A few slates are not sentivie ti acidic substances, while many are; yours is obviously part of the latter group.

That said, the odor should have gone away by now with good ventilation, but the “stain” is going to stay there forever, because is an actual surface damage and, due to the natural cleft finish typical of slate, it can't be technically repaired.

However, if it (temporarily) disappears when you wet it, the application of a good-quality stone color enhancer like MB-6 will produce the same wet effect (just the enhancement of the color – not the any sheen) permanently.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
