Can I use your products on slate? I have floors, counters, and shower. I have water stains in the shower and I am not sure what to do with them. Thanks

 

Dear Anntara:

All the “water stains” you have on your stone are marks of corrosions (etchings) made by various acidic or other pH active liquids that became in contact with the surface of the stone, i.e.: acidic shampoos and/or liquid soaps, some generic cleaning product and so on through a long list. There's no product on the marketplace – sealer or what-have-you – that could prevent such surface-damages from happening.

Your slate is obviously one of those sensitive to acids and you're going to have lots more of those “water stains”, alas… L

What to do?

Technically nothing can be done to repair damages on a natural cleft surface, which is Mother Nature's kitchen; but if those water stains (temporarily) disappear when wet, then a good quality stone color enhancer like MB-6 will give you the same “wet look” permanently (only the enhancement of the color, not any sheen).
