rainforest brown

My wife and I purchase honed rainforest brown tile to be installed in the kitchen. After further discussions with tile setters and sales people, who thought it was marble they informed us that that tile is a softer stone than actual granite and do not suggest that we install it in the kitchen. The problem is that we love the tile and and the look of the rainforest brown but do not regret putting it down if it stains and scratches easy. We've been unable to find anything similar to that look in a granite Please advise about that stone in a kitchen

Dear Danielle:

Of course you could not find anything that looks like that in a “granite”: Rainforest Brown is a weird and unique form of limestone, mostly dolomitic in nature but with large calcite binders (the thick veining).

If the kitchen is going to be busy, it is not the right stone for the project. Sorry… L
