Non sealed ubatuba countertops

We have Verde Uba Tuba granite countertops in our kitchen and everyone asks me how often I seal it. I am embarassed to say that in the 7 years we've owned the house I haven't ever seal them. They aren't stained and shine nicely. Do they need to be sealed and if so what products would you suggest? Thanks very much. Royce

Dear Royce:

It took me a while before I stopped laughing after reading your post!!

Everyone that asks you that silly question should be embarrassed, not you!! J

What do they know about stone? Do they know that Ubatuba is charnockite and not granite, and that charnockite is much denser than the average granite? What do they know about sealers for stone?

They have the evidence right before their very eyes that your stone doesn't need to be sealed (you don't have a single stain in 7 years!) – it actually can't even be technically sealed due to his high-density and high surface tension, yet they keep bringing up the sealing thing!! Simply amazing how brain-washed certain people can become!!

Print out this answer and put in front of their face the next time they open their mouths about the “sealing cult” and just laugh at them! J

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
