Cracked granite at kitchen sink

Maurizio, Our Peacock Green (we are near Guadalajara Mexico) granite countertop has cracked in two places within 4 months after installation. The cracks are both located in the area of the right hand sink of a double undermounted s/s sink. There is a crack in the front left corner from the rounded bullnose right across into the sink area, and another at the built-in soap dispenser cut-out in the upper right hand corner. Both go all the way through the 2cm thickness of the slab. They seem to line up with each other (the larger crack in front of the sink is angled towards the upper right corner). I can send you pictures if you feel it would be helpful. We have been told by the fabricator that they will replace the piece, but they have not shown up for over 2 months since we contacted them. Would appreciate your advice on how to handle this, both technically, and "legally". Muchas gracias!

Dear Ron:

Well, there's not much that I can tell you, is there?

Technically, the only hope is that your fabricator makes good to his word.

Legally… I really don't know which options you have in Mexico . I could give you advice if you resided in the USA , but Mexico ?... I don't know the first thing about the Mexican laws on matters like that, sorry.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
