We have slate around our pool that is breaking off (flaking). Is there something we can use to seal it?

Slate around a pool, huh… What a brilliant idea!! (Well, at least that slate, whatever the heck it is…)

And now you're looking for a miracle in a bottle to solve the problem… hmmm…

If I were you I would contact NASA; I've heard some rumor that over their last mission to Mars their rover brought back a magic sealer that does not exist on planet earth!...

Every time that we tried to fight Mother Nature we lost, inevitably. All the time.

Bottom line, there's no substitute for professionalism.

Sorry, but it's jack-hammer time!...

It's also time to get some intelligence about stone before actually buying it and having it installed.

Perhaps, if you'd get the right stone for the project, you wouldn't be looking for some sealer afterwards, which is always a bad idea to have applied to stone installed outdoors – especially, but not limited to – in proximity of a wet environment.

There's a silver lining to all this, though:

Hey, it's only money!!... :-)

 

Of course, if the stone industry were regulated and run by stone experts instead of a bunch of politicians and salesmen, you wouldn't have many of these problems…
