Usually a good-quality travertine, like the true Travertino Romano or the Mexican Durango (the tan colored one) are stones that works great in wet environment,
if installed properly.
In your case, however, you're pushing the envelope to an extreme that takes the whole issue into uncharted territory. My gut feeing tells me that's going to be okay – but it is just that: gut feeling. I can't do any better than that under the circumstances. And again, the installation is paramount!! Even more than the stone itself.
