I have about 2000 sq ft of beautiful 16"x16" Travertine floors. The house has had some settling issues, cracking about 30-40 of the tiles. We have installed piers to correct the settling, but now I have to address the cracked Travertine. Is there a way to fill and hone the cracks (Professionally), without replacing them? If not, what do you recommend? Thank you, Dave

 

Dear Dave:

Yes, there is a way to fix cracks on stone tiles: it's a special technique that I developed in partnership with a manufacturer of diamond tool and I consistently teach it in my 3-day stone restoration classes. (The process does require a special custom made diamond brazed blade to be used with a rotary tool.)

Unfortunately, if I have to throw in a guess, I would estimate that no more than a couple of dozen stone restoration professionals can do that.
