I have blue pearl countertops from a company that is GMS Werks in Omaha NE and I am fairly confident that they "sealed and polishe" it. This was done prior to me buying the house, but I believe that they always have polished and sealed everything, because that is the indication I have gotten from them. IS the first step for me to taking good care of these, besides using mb products, to find out what products GM WERKS used to seal and polish and make you aware of them? Kelley

No, I'm not interested at learning which product they used to do… absolutely nothing. In fact they neither sealed it, nor did they polish your stone.

For starters, the slab has been polished mechanically, by abrasion and friction by the factory – not certainly by your fabricator that, if they are like the vast majority of the fabricators out there, don't even know how to face polish stone. And second, as for the sealing, I'm sure that they applied an impregnator to your stone, but that doesn't mean that they actually sealed it. Blue Pearl (Alkaline feldspar syenite – a far cry from true geological granite) is a stone that's too dense to be sealed. In fact it is too dense to get stained – which is the only thing a sealer for stone (impregnator) help preventing.

So, forget about your misconception of a sealer for stone, forget about the entire seal-insanity, and concentrate on the routine care and the enjoyment of your wonderful stone. For the intents and purposes of a kitchen countertop, Blue Pearl is even better than true granite! J
