marble outdoor fireplace

Maurizio, We recently purchased a marble outdoor firplace that is more like a firepit than anything. Over the Christmas holidays, the pit was loaded with too much log starter which resulted in cracks in the marble. Is there any product I can use to repair this? Since the firplace is only 4 months old, I would like to make it last as long as possible. Thank you. malinda

Dear Malinda:

Yes, there is something that can be done to repair it, and it's called professional stone restoration contractor.

Not only is the adhesive necessary hard to get (true epoxy, since it's outdoors – opposed to polyester glue), but it also must be mixed with some inert material, preferably marble powder.

The technique and skills involved also concur at making a project like that a non-DIY one by a very long shot.
Also bear in mind that, no matter how well executed the repair is going to be, there's no guarantee that the marble is not going to crack again.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,

Maurizio Bertoli
