Tavertine Coffee TableI

I have spilt nail varnish remover on table top. It has left a mark where it has obviously soaked in. Is there anything I can do?

Dear Vivien:

It has left a mark where it has obviously soaked in

It left a mark of corrosion, but it never soaked in at all. It just etched the surface of your stone, because, obviously, you nail varnish remover is not the good ol' acetone of yore. It must have some pH active ingredient(s) in its formula, which is (are) the one(s) that did the deed.

If your stone is polished and the etching is not too severe, then the solution is the use of a good-quality marble repair kit.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
