Travertine Floor and Pet urine

My floors are travetine and I had them sealed by a professional 3 years ago. We recently added a new puppy to our home and where he has urinated on the floor, it has left an outline of the urine spot- a ring like on the floor. It is very noticible when the sun shines on the floor. Is there anything I can do to remove this? Has it permanantly ruined my floors or can something be done.

S. Prisco:
Is your travertine polished or hone-finished?

If it's polished, then the MB- Marble Repair Kit will do the trick for you.

If it's hone-finished, first you wash the stain with a mild olution of water and bleach, and then you use some sandpaer starting fro 120 grit down to 24 or even 400 to blend as much as possible with the rest of the floor. A few week of foot traffic will finish the job of blending-in.

And, BTW, the sealing of travertine is totally useless if it is polished, and mildly useless at best if hone-finished. What you have is not a stain: it's rather a ligh mark of corrosion (etching) caused by the acidity of the urine (ureic acid). No impregna tor (a.k.a. sealer) could do the first thing to prevent that.
