Stone Alternatives to Granite for Kitchen Counters

Maurizio - We are considering several countertops for our Door Counter kitchen. I don't want granite but am looking at Petite Granite (black Belguim) Limestone, and Soapstone and Jerusalem limestone. I want a softer gray look. Based on previous Q&A I'm eliminating Lagos Azul Limestone. Any comments or recommendations? I was told the Petite is like granite. Laura

Dear Laura:

I have only one word for you: soapstone.

All the rest – especially Belgium Black – are not so enjoyable if you plan to actually use your kitchen.

However, what happened to the fabricator, which is, by far, the most important factor in the whole equation?

You don't worry about that?... J

Ciao and good luck,
