Limestone shower

Yes, I know you aren't a fan of limestone in the shower. Sadly for me, the limestone is all installed. This is brand new limestone, honed, and it is beautiful. But I now see what I thought were black "stains" are actually "in" the tile. I don't know if this is mold or something else. The Installer is trying to tell me this is a natural occurrence in limestone but it looks awful. Can I try to clean it? Any ideas as to what it is?

Dear Alison:

But I now see what I thought were black "stains" are actually "in" the tile. I don't know if this is mold or something else.

And neither do I. L

What is that they would say to get out of trouble?!... L

it looks awful.

I'm sure it does. L

Can I try to clean it? Any ideas as to what it is?

Like I said, I don't know what it could be. Hoping that's mold, you could try to poultice it out with MB-9. But it is just a fishing expedition, alas… L

Now did you see how many unhappy faces I posted? Are you still wondering why I never recommend limestone in a shower stall?...

Not all limestones are bad, understand; a precious few are quite good as a matter of fact. But this generic classification of limestone in relation to a huge array of stones that are so different and perform so differently from one another is what does the deed.

Of course, if the industry was regulated… etc.

And that is why the world needs marblecleaning.org!

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
