Limestone patios

We installed limestone for outdoor areas including 1 covered patio, 1 uncovered patio, and several sets of steps. We've had a remarkable amount of rain this year and everything is mildewed and quite slippery. Other than scrubbing each and every inch of it, is there a good solution to this?

Dear Janice:

By saying limestone you're saying very little – if anything at all. There are many different (and I do mean different) kinds of limestone that span from dense and (almost) acceptable rocks, to limestone that will actually fall apart under running water or turn into mud, and everything in between.

So which limestone do you have?

If you ask me, the only limestone acceptable for outdoors is either rough-finished and unfilled travertine, or Indiana limestone – End of the list.

That said, by power washing your patio with MB-9 diluted in a proportion of 1:1 with water will do the trick. Just keep the pressure at no more than 800 PSI and the no z z le not to close to the stone surface. Let the solution do the work (wait for at least 15 minutes); repeat if necessary and help the solution with a scrub in the most stubborn areas. Rinse thoroughly – Done!

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm? J

Ciao and good luck,
