Marble with grout film

After marble was installed and grouted there is now a film of grout dust that I can't seem to get up. It is polished marble and I would like to get it's mirror finish back, how do I do this?

Dear Helen:

Are you sure it's grout residue?

To find out if it is, try to scrape some with razor blade, if it comes off, then your assessment is right. If not it could be something more serious.

Assuming (and hoping) that's indeed grout residue, you're going to have to remove the worst with a razor blade (be careful: if you do it right you will no scratch the marble, but if you're not familiar with the procedure, have a pro do it for you), and then, when it is down to a film, clean it with a good quality heavy-duty alkaline cleaner with chelates in its formula like MB-3.

After that, you will enter into regular maintenance routine.

How?
