Travertine in Shower has white film

Dear Sir, We moved into this home just 5 months ago. Our enclosed master shower has travertine floor and walls. Recently a white film started developing on the it. I do not know how to get rid of the white film. It disappears when it is wet, and when it dries you can see it again. Incidentally the water softener recently stopped working. Whether that caused the white film or not I do not know. What should I do? Respectfully, Abby

Dear Abby:

Check your grout lines and caulk lines and see if there's grout or caulk missing, and then get back to me.

Ciao and good luck,

Mauri z io Bertoli
