Travertine Floors sandy powder problem

We recently renovated our home, vein cut classic travertine. Purchased honed unfilled. After installation they sealed it with an impregnator. It seems that even after vacuum cleaning and moping it has a dust film like a very fine sand, some said that it is normal with travertine. If so for how long its being already 4 months. Thank you so much for taking my question. Patricia, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Dear Patricia:

It seems that even after vacuum cleaning and moping it has a dust film like a very fine sand, some said that it is normal with travertine.

No, it is not normal at all. What it could be it's either a residue of the grout (grout film) that was not cleaned off properly, or a residue of the impregnator that's trapping dirt.

Have the installer come back and demand the problem to be solved without any lame excuse like the one that was given to you. If not, you will have that problem only the gods know for how long.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
