stone classifications

I recently asked you about educating myself & my staff about stone restoration, thank you for your rapid and informative response. My new question is, can you offer any suggestions on where to find information about the various stone types (geology), and how to identify them, instead of calling everything "granite" or marble. Thank you very much

Dear Dan:

Unfortunately, there's no such a source. The closest thing to that can be found at: http://www.findstone.com/daniel1.htm for the “granites” and at: http://www.findstone.com/daniel4.htm for the marbles.

And that is one of the many reasons why the world needs marblecleaning.org! We need to force the industry establishment to do what the law of the land requires to do: tell consumers what on earth they're buying in details.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,

Mauri z io Bertoli
