Newly installed Travertine...Next step? |
Article Number: 1235 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Wed, Feb 20, 2008 at 12:00 AM |
I just bought and read your 7 page article on stone maintenance and it's great...Thanks! Just had travertine installed and grouted. I don't really trust the installer to do anything but installation. Question#1. How do I remove grout haze? Question #2. Will the color enhancer give it a light gloss? Thanks!
Dear Carlos:
“
Question#1. How do I remove grout haze?
”
If it is just a haze, nothing beats MB-3! It's the only product of its kind. (Grout haze can be classified as mineral deposit.)

”
Not if you apply it right. The most important phase of the application of any below-surface (of the stone) products is the through removal of its residue that was not absorbed by the stone, before it has a chance to dry; so that at the end of the job, the surface of the stone is as bare as it was before you started the application.
The real question is: will the color enhancer produce any difference? With many travertines it does not. To find out, try to wet your stone with water (you can try on a spare tile) and see if it gets enhanced and to which degree: what you see is what the color enhancer will give you permanently. Some times the difference is so minimal that it is not worth doing it.
