emperador for bathroom floor

I am thinking of getting emperador marble for a bathroom floor; however, I have been warned that hair spray stains could be a problem. Is this a legitimate concern? What other concerns should I be aware of?

Dear Lisa:

Air spray should be a legitimate concern in the case of polished calcareous marble. However, Emperador is compact dolostone and as such is not as sensitive to mild acidic spills like air spray could be. I would go for it.

After you use your air spray, make sure to clean any affected area with a quick squirt of a good-quality stone spray cleaner, like MB-5 ( http://www.mbstonecare.com). It is not the risk of etching that you should be concerned about, but of the accumulation of the sticky stuff on the stone surface, which would be a problem with any surface, not just stone. If you let it accumulate too much, it will become much harder to clean off. (Makes sense, don't it?... :-))

Other than that, it's quite an enjoyable stone even though it does require some special (yet easy) care.
