Travertine Kitchen Sink |
Article Number: 142 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 12:00 AM |
I am considering purchasing a travertine kitchen sink that is a one piece unit. How will it stand up to grease, sauce, etc. that it will endure while I use my sink? Is this a good stone for a sink or should I stick with something else?
Dear Nancy:
If you're concerned about what your sink will look like after several months of use and expect it to keep looking like new all the time, then the only natural stone sink that I can think of for you is soapstone.
If instead you just enjoy it and don't give a second thought at the changes that the stones will go through over continuous use, until it will take that “lived-in” look that certain people in certain country would be willing to pay money for, then it would be quite alright.
It is not an issue related to the stone; it is rather an issue related to the collective culture of a certain community and what the good folks of that community expect a stone to perform.
You are the only one with an answer to your question.
